Muslims Eid al Fitr festival celebrations 2020 start after the end of Ramadan every year. Eid or Eid al Fitr marks the start of 10th Islamic month Shawwal which is also a month of celebration after the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims celebrate Eid al Fitr when the Shawwal moon is sighted. Many Muslim countries have an official government-appointed, moon-sighting committee that declares Eid Al Fitr upon the sighting of the crescent moon. The dates for Eid Al Fitr varies every year and this year Eid ul Fitr moon will be sighted at the evening of Saturday, 23 May 2020 and Sunday, 24 May 2020 will be the eid day. All Muslim countries of the world did not celebrate Eid al Fitr on the same day. This difference occurs due to the weather conditions of those countries and on the sighting of the moon. Many countries will celebrate Eid ul Fitr festival on the same day or next day. Eid Al Fitr is the first day of the 10th Islamic calendar month Shawwal and the first day after the holy month of Ramadan. Eid Al Fitr is the gift of God after the month-long fasting and prayer during Ramadan.
Many Muslim and non-Muslim countries follow Saudi Arabia in order to celebrate Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr. Muslims start their eid day with Fjar prayer and after it, they eat some sweet dish and divide this sweet dish among their family, neighbors, friends and the poor people of the locality. Before going to offer Eid prayer it is obligatory for Muslims to Pay Zakat ul Fitr or Fitrana or Fitra for Eid ul Fitr to poor and needy people of the society. After completing this process they prepare for their selves for Eid al Fitr prayer. After wearing new clothes and fully preparation the Muslims go to the mosques or in sports arenas or other large-capacity public gathering places to perform Eid Al Fitr prayer. Before eid prayer, the Imam tells about the Eid al Fitr prayer procedure briefly including six extra sayings of Eid ul Fitr takbir. Eid al Fitr is consisting of two Rakats and It must be may be performed only in the congregation. It an additional extra six Takbirs, in which three of them at the beginning of the first Raka’ah and the last three of them just before Ruku’ in the second Raka’ah of the Eid prayer. The Muslims hear a sermon called a khutba, and to give away food as an act of charity. Muslims greet each other with the words “Eid Mubarak”, meaning “Blessed Eid” after Eid prayer.
On eid day Muslims of all the world send Eid greeting messages to their family members, friends and other loved ones in the world. On the Eid Al Fitr celebration day, many local communities hold communal meals and children’s events. It is accustomed, and of religious significance, to give gifts of food to the poor during the holy month of Ramadan and on Eid day. People who fail to do so or who just want to be “extra generous,” however, often give it on Eid Al Fitr day. The food given is often in the form of raisins, dates, flour, or barley. The money of equivalent value to such food gifts is also sometimes donated to the poor people of the society during the holy month of Ramadan and even on Eid al Fitr day as Fitrana and charity in order to include these people into the Eid celebrations with others.
