Eid al-Fitr is also known as the “Feast of Breaking the Fast”. Eid is celebrated for one, two or three days as per the county. The greet during these three days is Arabic greeting ‘Eid Mubarak’ OR ‘Happy Eid’ in English. In many other countries, they have their own greeting in their own local language. For Example in Turkey a typical saying might be Bayramınız Kutlu Olsun or May your Bayram – Eid – be blessed. Muslims or Islamic are also encouraged on this day to forget and forgive any differences with each other. Eid al-Fitr prayer is also known as Salat al-Eid OR Salat al-Eidain, is the important and special prayer offered in the two Islamic festivals. The two Islamic Festivals are as follows
- Eid al-Fitr
- Eid al-Adha
Eid is also called as Eidain in the Arabic language. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the Shawaal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar means the first day after the month Ramadan. Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the tenth day of the Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelve months in the Islamic calendar. Both the events this special and important prayer is usually offered in Eidain OR Eid on the place called Musjid, Mosque or any other open place where the prayer is held.
Some scholars said important of the Salaat in a different language. Salaat al-Eid is Wajib as per the scholars Hanafi. Sunnah al-Mukkadah as per the Maliki and Shafi jurisprudence scholars and as per the Hanbali scholars is called Fard. Some of them say Fard al-ayn and some said Fard al-Kifiya.
The time for Eid al-Fitr (OR Eid al-Adha) prayer starts when the sun rises above the height, as seen by the naked eyes, and it continues until the sun is approaching its most powerful position or exactly 20-25 minutes after sunrise. However, the time for the Eid al-Fitr Sallah is delayed and Eid al-Adha Salaah is early.
In the Geometric language Eid al-Fitr Prayer Time
The time for the Eid prayer begins when the sun is 9.8 feet from the horizon until the sun is on its meridian. The great scholar Ahmad ibn Hassan al-Bana said that “the originator Islamic prophet Muhammad prayed the Eid or Eidain prayer while the sun is on 20 feet from the horizon and Eid fast is satisfied when the sun is 9.8 feet from the horizon”.
Important Methods and Notes of Eid al-Fitr Prayer
- To greet, shake hand with each other and giving a hug to each other, after the Eid prayer. This also means that increasing love and affection between Muslim’s and this is the way of expressing Happiness and Joyous.
- It is not allowed for women’s to perform the Eid prayer, as there shall be both men and women in the place where prayer is performed. That is why females are not allowed to go to the Musjid, Mosque or open place where prayed going to perform the Salaah. Whether it is the day or night, whether it is Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha or Jumah. Whether females are young or edged.
- It’s not allowed females to have their own congregation or salaah, even its not permissible as the congregation held by women between themselves to performed salaah is not allowed, its completely not accepted.
Females should only pray the Nafl means supererogatory salaah on the day of Eid, at home, on their own. They shall receive the blessings and rewards of the day Of Eid.
