Eid Al Adha Islamic celebrations 2017 Festival Of Sacrifice is the event of animal sacrifice. Muslims all around the world celebrate this event to commemorate the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) to follow Allah's command to sacrifice his son. Eid Al Adha is celebrated in the last month of Islamic Calendar. It is observed around the 10th to the 13th days of the last Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. In this month the 5th Islamic pillar Hajj or pilgrimage is performed. Muslims celebrate Eid al Adha next day of Hajj. This year Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on Friday, the 1st of September, 2017 and ends in the evening of September 3, 2017. The dates may vary because of the movement of the moon. Islamic Calendar is based on the occurrence of the moon. Many Muslim countries have an official government-appointed, moon-sighting committee that declares Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha upon the sighting of the crescent moon. All Muslim countries of the world did not celebrate the Eid al Fitr and Eid Al Adha on the same day because of weather conditions and the sighting of moon.

Eid al-Adha is called with different names as"Festival of the Sacrifice"‎, "Sacrifice Feast", and it is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year. This Islamic event has striong background history of Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifce of his son for God. Every year Muslims celebrate this Eid Al Adha event by sacrificing animals for God. Eid Ul Adha Qurbani is obligatory for every Muslim male or female who has sane, adult, and possesses the Nisab amount for Zakat. Furthermore, Islamic Calendar Eid Al Adha Qurbani is also compulsory for every family member, including children. It is the duty of their parents to give qurbani from them untill the children themselves are adults. In simple and short words, if you falls in the category of paying Zakat, you must also perform Qurbani for yourself and even from every family member including the children. After praying Eid ul Adha prayer Muslims sacrifice the animals according to their worth and the meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts. One third part of the meat is retained for the family while another third part of meat is given to relatives, friends and neighbors and the last remaining third part of sacrificed meat is given to the poor and needy.

Eid Al Adha Islamic Celebrations

Like Eid al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha begins with a prayer of two rakats with six extra takbirs followed by a sermon or khutbah. Eid Al Adha Islamic celebrations start after the pilgrims performing Hajj. The hajj is perfomed in the ground of Arafat which is surrounded by a hill east of Makkah city. In Islam Eid sacrifice may take place until sunset on the 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. The importance of Eid days are explained in the Hadith as "Days of remembrance" and these days are considered the holiest days in the Islamic Calendar. After wearing new clothes and fully preparation the Muslims go to the mosques or in sports arenas or other large-capacity public gathering places to perform Eid Al Adha prayer. Before Eid prayer the Imam tells about the Eid Al Adha prayer procedure including its history and background briefly including six extra sayings of Eid Al Adha takbir. Eid al Adha is consisting of two Rakats like Eid Al Fitr and It must be may be performed only in congregation. After praying Eid Al Adha prayer Muslims greet each other with the words "Eid Mubarak", meaning "Blessed Eid" after eid prayer.

In non Muslim countries like in many parts of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States or many other countries it is not common or legal. In these countries, groups of people may purchase a whole carcass from a butcher or slaughterhouse and divide it amongst themselves or just buy generous portions of meat for a communal meal on Eid-al-Adha. People also give money to the poor people of their local community and around the world to eat a meat-based meal. Many families visit the homes of relatives and friends, give meat and other valuable gifts to children, and send special greeting cards to one another with the words "Eid Mubarak!" printed on these greeting cards.
